about

"George Fetner’s Some Things We’ll Change cerebral compositions bridge a perfect gap between modern pop song and melodic complexity. “It Goes On” is an austere meditation on loss and gesture towards acceptance. Fetner’s music is music of transition and is created for the in-between. Be it the in-betweens of a relationship, a career, or even a season. Listen to Some Things We’ll Change on a long drive with your windows down and reflect on what good you have done and what remains for you to accomplish." - Ethan Fogus, "No Depression" blog

Track Name: Winter Moon
Early December, I waited for my love to come home.
Her hair shined like a ghost in the cold winter moon.
Later that night by the fire I drifted to sleep.
And she brought me to a dream with her infinite warmth.

Isn't it strange how we live our lives like we'll never die?
Some things we'll change and some things we'll only try.

The sunlight, it shined like breath through the frozen oak trees.
She rose, closing the curtains to keep out the time.
Later at noon, waking up, I gazed at the woods.
She paused, and stood for a moment before she turned towards the world.

Isn't it strange how we live our lives like we'll never die?
Some things we'll change and some things we'll only try.

Though I still taste the wine on my tongue, it dries my mouth.
Though the wind will cool my brow, this hill will make me sweat.
Am I too far? Should I return?
How can I change if I refuse to learn?
Track Name: The Matador
For most of my life I've played that game of chance.
Time has passed and stories remain of romance.
But the morning comes and dreams begin to slip away.
Back to work. Another dollar another day.

Well they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks.
And if something ain't broken, why would it need a fix?
But the morning comes and soon a week becomes a day
I thought you were mine but you turned to me with nothing to say

Whatcha gonna do when the Matador
waves her cape and makes you shake until you fall to the floor?
The Matador. . .
You thought you could win but you've been here before

Well they say you’ll get burned if you reach for the flame
and when you’re alone and try to love it’s the same
But then you wonder could you have something new?
Maybe it’s love. Maybe it’s meant only for you.

Whatcha gonna do when the Matador
waves her cape and makes you shake until you fall to the floor?
The Matador. . .
You thought you could win but you've been here before

When my head goes down
Then the lights go out
Track Name: Night Out
I picked her up for a night out
around the town and without a doubt.

We enjoyed the evening dining at ease.
Tonight was for her and for me to please.

But tonight you’re fast asleep, tonight you’re fast asleep
You can dream you’re alive
Tonight you’ll have to sleep, but the memories you can keep
look alive, look alive

Wrapped in silk with an elegant glow,
she moved towards me like falling snow.

Her warming smile fueled my every move
and her soft skin was made only to soothe.

But tonight you’re fast asleep, tonight you’re fast asleep
You can dream you’re alive
Tonight you’ll have to sleep, but the memories you can keep
look alive, look alive
Track Name: Memories Won't Let Me Go
Early morning: I lay awake.
I search for some sunshine.
But then I see you sleeping so sound.
I can't believe what I've found.

Memories will be made in the future.
Memories won't let me go.

Later at dinner, table for two.
I just look at you.
And with the silence: you're looking back.
I don't know what to do.

Memories will be made in the future.
Memories won't let me go.

But floating high, I begin to deny.
But again it starts to sink in.

Early morning: I lay awake.
I search for some sunshine.
Track Name: Phone Calls
It was delayed reaction but you called it satisfaction.
The light in your eyes I'd never seen before.
Maybe you'd forgotten that our relationship was rotten,
but for you to forget, you'd have to close that door.

It was a simple solution that became a delusion.
The words I sought didn't save myself from pain.
Maybe you remembered all the feelings we surrendered,
but for you to remember, the feelings would remain.

It was cold in January, when we discovered an estuary.
The path I sought, you gladly let me in.
Maybe you'd decided that my decision was (finally) guided,
but for you to decide, you'd have to love again.

Phone calls used to keep me up, but they won't anymore.
Track Name: Change Your Heart
Have you heard the news?
Have you heard what they’re saying today?
I thought we were fine
I thought things were going okay
But I had it wrong.

We’ve closed off our hearts.
We close off our hearts every day.
Though I hope you stay,
If you leave next time we speak,
I will understand.

Open up your thoughts.
Take a look at how you think.
Give yourself a chance.
Give yourself a chance to understand.
It could change your heart.
Track Name: It Goes On
What the sun has shown me
the moon will concur:
The way a person's feeling
you may not infer.

It goes on.

Sundays once holy
now are much less clear.
What I thought would endure
is now no longer here.

It goes on.

I never meant to bring you down.
I never meant to hurt you.

It goes on.
